I received an early copy of this for a fair and honest review.
This book was a slow burn type of book but when it started to pick up, it became better. I liked how the hero had Alpha tendency and I wish that would have been more prevalent than was ( I like a somewhat forceful hero) the heroine was likable enough. Amelia is the daughter of a forger Brandon is a lord in debt through no fault of his own. Which means he must marry a wealthy heiress in the form of an air headed Dukes daughter. But the catch is that Amelia and Brandon have met before and he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her, and Brandon is a man who always gets what he wants. So he commissions Amelia ( a gifted painter) to paint his portrait and naturally things get heated. What I liked was the chemistry between between Amelia and Brandon, and how it progressed. Most of Amelia’s feelings hit close to home for me which helped me connect with her. What I didn’t like was the story felt like it dragged in spots and once the slow burn wore off and things started getting good suddenly we were back to the slow burn because of interference from the dukes daughter which I have never met a more bubble headed character….enough said! The Ending was sweet and I thought fitted the entire book and I was happy with it.However, Now I feel like Lord Emmett and his brother need their own stories I loved them!
